What More Could I Ask?

Life~

Today was Day 2 of my school's Sukantara. 6 houses all together (lets just exclude the 2 new houses), only one winner. Sadly, it wasn't my house! Haha, but that was not the point. The point is, almost a week ago, during my school's cross country, I ended up letting my peers down and led the house to the bottom of the standings but Sukantara was a whole new ball game.

I knew we had nothing to lose, so did my Student Advisor and my Vice Capts, so we just gave it our all. We were not going to disappoint anyway because no one really expected us to do anything. Our attendence was once again on a minimum when compared to the other houses but that did not stop us.

Day 1
We had high jump and 400 metres in our schedule and my house practically nailed both events but no one realized until the end of Day 1. So anyways, it was a fun process, yes some were stubborn and loved to just loaf around but me and my committee pushed them on. We shouted, we cheered, we did it all and it all went un-noticed by the other houses. To be honest, we didn't know we did that well too. When Day 1 came to a close, the teachers asked us to all gather and wait for the result for Day 1. I gathered them all and we listened as the results came in.

The teacher started with 6th place, which ended up not to be us and we already had something to cheer about. We actually just wanted to not finish last again so we were already in a joyous mood. 5th and 4th place wasn't us too, that was when I started to listen. Before that I was not paying attention. 3rd place was next, we knew that if it was us, it would have been really pure luck and we would have settled for 3rd place BUT, it wasn't us too! That was when the whole of Cheeseman started cheering and jumping, it was as if we won but it wasn't to be in the end, we ended up 2nd place in Day one. I thanked all of my members and there was SO many hugs. I mean, SO many. It made my day!

Day 2
We knew we had a job to finish. It was not easy as we had all to lose. In Day one, we came in as underdogs but we ended up on an all time high so we needed to maintain our performance. Today we had 100 Metres and Long Jump in our schedules, both tricky events as 3 houses fell prey to both events and had to stick to the bottom. We started with 100 metres and the atmosphere was just extreme. In Day one, most of the members weren't so into it cuz no one was interested to be honest but Day two was a different story, everyone knew they had a fighting chance so everyone cheered. We did great for that event, kids fat or thin ran. They knew that a point was all too precious to give away.

Me and my committee continued to push, shout and cheer them on because we dared to dream, we wanted to end this competition on a high. We moved on to Long Jump and this event was tricky as that part of the field was very slippery and many houses has already complained bout it. We were the last house to do that event and there were already eyes watching. The feeling was just awesome when every single Cheeseman member gave it their all. I remember telling them, "Guys, we got this far, just get a point. I won't ask for two, just one would be enough. You got this!" I repeated that countless times as they flew one by one on the sandpit. Then it was over, all was done and next was results time. We knew we were under threat as many houses were hunting for our asses.

Once again, 6th, 5th and 4th was not us so we cheered, but unfortunately, 2 other houses did much better than us so we ended up in 3rd place. But to me, no one really expected this from us. We had the least members and we came in as underdogs. To me, all my members are champs. I would also like to say kudos to my form 1 and form 2 members. They did me proud by getting 2nd place for their class. They only lost to Wu Lien Teh by a single point so it was really a great achievement.

Now we are just 15-20 points away from the top spot, we will push on because we dared to dream. Come Sports Day and we will give it our all once more, no joke but if we ended up going down again, I could not be any prouder of the boys this week. What more could I ask from them? A perfect brithday gift.

Final Standings :
Pinhorn
Wu Lien Teh

Special thanks to Hamilton captain, Chong Hon Yvain for consoling me and supporting me as Cheeseman Captain. I would have given up if it wasn't for you, Thanks Mate!
