The Final that ended up in Tears

Football~

The following are taken from "www.tottenhamhotspurs.com", author's thoughts are below this :

Harry Redknapp said he 'couldn't have asked for more' after we suffered penalty heartbreak against Manchester United in Sunday's Carling Cup Final at Wembley.

We edged a closely-fought, goalless encounter over the 90 minutes and extra time before losing 4-1 in the shoot-out.

United keeper Ben Foster was forced into the best two saves of the match to deny Aaron Lennon in the 71st minute and Darren Bent late in extra time before saving his best until last to keep out Jamie O'Hara's penalty, the first of the shoot-out.

Vedran Corluka scored but David Bentley missed and when Anderson converted United's fourth spot-kick there was no way back.

"I was well pleased with how we played, I thought the lads were terrific," said Harry at Wembley.

"We couldn't get that break we needed. We got into some great situations and I thought we might go and win it at the end (Foster's save from Bent) but they gave everything.

"Foster is a good keeper, I've followed his career and he was the busiest of the keepers, for sure.

"We played the best team in Europe and it wasn't their kids, they started with two kids but they came off and suddenly Vidic and Giggs come on and it's a very strong team.

"They wanted to win as badly as we did, make mistake about that. If there is a trophy to win, Alex wants to win it."

Author's thoughts :

Last night was a real roller coaster ride, a whole 125 minutes of it. The game never really looked Spurs' way but the boys still soldiered on. Every minute and every second you see them fighting for the ball. Although I have a test in school the next day, I did what a loyal supporter would do. I put on the team jersey and stood by the team the whole time. And like I've said on the chat box, its games like this, that make me love the team more. It's the passion and the tenacity that I admire from the players, not the fancy skills they can do(to the guys) or how hot they look(to the girls).

The team isn't a top side but yet they managed to get to the final after beating the likes of Liverpool. We proved to be no pushovers to Man United last night, and I have to give credit to the United players except for Nani, he was crap.

For some people, when their team loses a game or in this case, in a Cup final, they would probably end up angry or decide to support another club(In this case, its either to Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea..Malaysians can be very very lame.), but for me, I am very happy with the team and their performance. I still have my Spurs Jersey and I do not plan to buy any other jerseys to replace it. =)

and p.s : Jamie (O'Hara), cheer up! you played well last night! We're gonna get back to Wembley next season, then..We can make it 5 for sure!!

cyen/tristan - COYS!(come on you Spurs!)
